Habits of the rich tend to be the best blueprints toward gaining the ultimate financial freedom. Fortunately, the rich’s common habits drive the routines of the wealthiest people in society.
Everyone aspires to be rich or even in a better position than their current situation. Imagine yourself being rich one day, having gained the financial freedom that you have been yearning for. If you want to make a difference in your life, this post belongs to you. It has worked for me, and I believe it can work for you too!
It’s good to understand that nothing comes for free. Success involves a lot of commitment from the word go. This pushed me towards knowing the rich habits that have worked for self-made millionaires.
I have been researching what makes the difference between the poor and the rich. The self-made millionaires that we see around have indeed worked for it. And we see the fruits of their turmoil.
I noticed that there are common habits of rich people. Success has to be worked for with persistence. The behavior that is done repeatedly eventually becomes a habit. And to change your life pattern, you have to change your habits. This is what Thomas Corey insinuated in his book ‘ Change Your Habits, Change Your Life.’ The success or failure of your life lies in your daily habits.
Habits define who we are. In this post, I will bring to light the common habits of the rich that you can easily adopt. I believe that if anyone puts into action the habits that I’m going to unveil here, they will experience a positive change in their life.
This is what really makes the difference…
1. Crave for more knowledge
Like they say, ‘knowledge is power. I found out that these guys do a lot of reading. But, they have the desire to learn through different channels like YouTube tutorials. It’s a habit that I noticed has a lot of power than the rest.
They only read books that add value in their area of specialization. Reading opens up their mind to do more fascinating things.
There is a book that really opened my mind before I started my blog. It was really a game-changer in my life because it’s during that time that I had to take the necessary action.
I was not a good reader before. It all happened like a miracle when I first saw this book. The Parable of the Pipeline by Burke Hedges transformed my life.
I still reread the book again and again. I don’t think I will ever stop!
Thomas Corley, in his book The Rich Habits, said that rich people read a lot. This is because rich people believe that reading helps them to quench curiosity. Thomas spent 5 years studying the common Rich habits that the wealthy people possessed.
You can also read magazines that add value to your life. Just yearn for more knowledge regardless of where it comes from. There are still YouTube scripts that can match what you want to learn about. Make reading to be your passion, and you will see a positive impact, just like I did.
The more you read good books, the more you are likely to put the knowledge into action. Possess the habit of gaining more knowledge, and everything will always fall in place. One of the ways that I have recommended towards gaining financial freedom is being open-minded. Something that only comes with gaining more knowledge. I am a living testimony to this.
2. Another habit of the rich is that they Wake up Early

Rich people wake up early because they have a lot to do. The early morning hours are very productive if spend well. Research shows that the mind is fresh in the early morning hours and can concentrate more than other day hours. There is less noise and fewer distractions during the first few hours of the day.
Rich people do the things which keep them moving in the morning hours. The morning hours are critical such that you cannot spend them on non-productive stuff.
Things that anyone can do very early in the morning:
- Start by having enough quiet time with God. This depends on your faith. Starting your day with some good time with your God is a great way of settting your day. This is the number one cause of success.
- Watch motivational videos on YouTube. These one’s help you to stay positive and get a role model. When you watch those videos, you will notice that most successful people have common habits.
- Meditate. Meditation is a way of creating a mental focus on a specific thing. There are several types of meditation that can be achieved by anyone.
- Do Exercise. This is another way to win your day. You can download a free exercise app and put the instructions into action.
A lot of sleeping will never do any good thing to you. So step out of your comfort zone and start practicing the above-mentioned, then trust me, everything will change.
3. Set goals
If you do not know where you want to see yourself in the next 1, 2, or 3 years to come, then you are making a big mistake. You will never know what to do unless you have a goal to achieve. For instance, let’s assume you want to start saving money. Having a target amount that you will save in a specific period makes you have a goal. With a goal in mind, you have the urge to achieve it day by day.
Rich people have this habit of setting goals and working towards them. Having a goal helps them to focus on what they want. Unless you know what you want, you may never be focused throughout your entire life.
Setting a goal(s) helps you to stay in the right direction towards your destiny. If you want to be sure to accomplish your goals, then put a daily effort towards it. Then, keep praying and working on it.
4. Choose your circle wisely
You become who you are associated with. Even the Bible itself says that bad habits corrupt good morals. The rich people associate themselves with people who are beneficial to them. They make sure that whoever is in their circle is beneficial in their journey. They probably share common goals.
Jeff Bezos, the world’s wealthiest man in 2021, says that it’s always advisable to have a small circle that is more productive. But, on the other hand, he says that a large team will always have many setbacks, which slows down productivity.
Get friends who understand your goals and support you towards them. Create a team of individuals who have more focus in the future and are working toward it. Friends who don’t have goals will drain you with lots of negative energy. Learn to cut off all bad ties which may seem to pull you behind.
5. Get enough rest
Getting enough rest contributes much to the internal wellness of any human being. Rich people ensure that they sleep at least 7 hours a night. Sleep helps to reduce depression and other mental health complications. Enough sleep triggers productivity.
A study by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine showed that poor sleep led to decreased productivity. This is why worldwide billionaires like Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba Group, value sleep in their life.
Jack Ma says that getting enough sleep is one of his priorities. He said that getting enough sleep gives him fresh energy to work and invent new ideas. Ma also says that nothing has ever kept him from having enough sleep. He concluded that even if he doesn’t sleep, the problem will still be bothering him.
This shows that sleep is essential when it comes to success. If you have ever stayed long without sleep, I know you know what transpired the next day. Of course, the first thing you experience is extreme headache and fatigue. But, unfortunately, the rich people out there never allow that to get in their way. That’s why you should strive to sleep at least 7 hours a day.
Getting enough sleep does not in any way hinder you from waking up. For instance, I make sure that I sleep at least 7 hours a day by sleeping at 9:00 pm and waking up at 4:00 am. As a result, I never doze off during the day.
6. Learn to manage time
An old saying is that time is like a river; you cannot touch the same drop twice. Have you ever thought that you will never see the previous second again in your life? I have used seconds to show you how time is precious. How you spend your time can largely affect your lifestyle. Rich people spend time on things and people that increase their productivity.

7. Networking is another habit of the rich people
Networking is simply the exchange of ideas within a circle of common interests. Rich people focus on building long-term relationships within their circle. These relationships are usually mutual – everyone benefits. In addition, networking helps to improve personal skills.
It’s always tough to raise all by yourself. You will need people around you to support and encourage you.
It would help if you always were careful every time. This means you will be able to leverage any opportunity that comes your way. I usually say that opportunities come to those who can see them.
As soon as you start noticing your abilities, you should be ready to search for opportunities in line with your career.
8 Practice the art of giving
The current world is full of less privileged individuals in many different ways. You will always have something to give if you are willing to see it. Give your time, advice, money, shelter, food, etc. those who are in need. You don’t have to be rich to start giving; start now.
The Bible quotes that blessed is the hand that gives. Giving has the power to open doors to opportunities. Have I become a preacher now? Haha.
The rich people also volunteer to do things for the community. For example, many companies have Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) programs.
9. An interesting habit of the rich is that they never quit
No matter how things may get tough, never include quitting in your dictionary. You may be one step to your goal, so don’t you ever quit on anything.
Rich people have the habit of pressing harder until they get results, and you can do it too. That is the spirit that I have been having since I started blogging. You can do it too- focus on the goal until you win.
Elon Musk, founder of Space X, Co-founder of Tesla, and Co-founder of Paypal have had a lot of failures in his journey, but he has never thought of quitting. His net worth in 2021 is $ 167.3 billion making him the second richest man in the world.
Quitting makes you a failure in what you are doing. I usually say that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
10. Rich men have the habit of exercising regularly
Exercising regularly helps one to stay fit and healthy. So despite Rich people having a tight schedule, they usually have time to do exercise.
Eating a balanced diet and avoiding junk food helps to boost the body’s immunity. Rich people care a lot about their health because they depend on the body to succeed.
This gives them more time to work on their goals because they are not fighting any diseases.
What to do
Please do not limit yourself anymore; you can do it too. Do not fear to step out of your comfort zone. Open your mind and see the world from a different perspective. Be flexible enough to adjust to the changes of the world.
